Cerulean, Light Rail Donate To WLLP
Representatives from Cerulean and Light Rail were proud to present members of the Winona Lake Limitless Park committee with a check for $6,554.72 in support of the multi-phase splash pad, playground and infrastructure project currently under construction at Winona Lake Park.
The total raised by Cerulean and Light Rail will be doubled by the Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation as part of their $100,000 individual match program established for Winona Lake Limitless Park.
Cerulean generated its portion of the proceeds during its Summer Wine Tasting, Lamb Roast, and Silent Movie event on May 30. The new Cerulean Garden patio area served as the theater as attendees mingled and enjoyed an array of wine selections. During the week of April 21, Light Rail Café and Roaster donated 20 percent of its proceeds to Winona Lake Limitless Park. Both restaurants are owned by Warsaw-native, Caleb France.
The Summer Wine Tasting and week-long fundraiser are just two of several events this summer being hosted by Village of Winona businesses to support Winona Lake Limitless Park. Cerulean will be hosting a family-friendly Summer Picnic from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21. On Saturday, July 12, WINEona and Hops in the Shops will donate 100 percent of its proceeds to WLLP.
Winona Lake Limitless Park recently celebrated the groundbreaking for Phase I at its Wheels in Winona community event. Phase I consists of the splash pad, year-round restrooms, and a portion of the parking expansion. Construction on Phase I is forecasted for completion by late summer 2014. The primary sponsor for Phase I is K21 Health Foundation in coordination with numerous public and private donors.
Phase II will include a beyond ADA-compliant playground, sensory stations for children with visual, auditory and cognitive challenges, additional parking, new sidewalks and landscaping.
Winona Lake Limitless Park committee is actively pursuing the remaining capital needed for Phase II and its groundbreaking in 2015. The total cost of both phases is estimated at $1.5 million dollars.
