Whitko Track Teams Victorious
SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko track teams tuned up for the conference meet in fine fashion Monday night.
The host Wildcats won a pair of Three Rivers Conference meets in both boys and girls action.
The Whitko boys totaled 73 points to best both Tippecanoe Valley (55) and North Miami (25).
Blake Sapp led the way for the winners with two first-place finishes. Sapp won the high jump by clearing 5-8 and took first in the 300 hurdles with a top time of 44.0.
Also winning for Whitko were Zach Hewitt in the discus (127-10), Cole Eberly in the 110 hurdles (17.8), Derek Miller in the 1,600 (5:06) and Josh Wright in the 3,200 (11:19).
The Wildcats also won the 4 X 800 relay with the team of Miller, Lane Wolf, Daniel Kirkham and Dillon Alma first in a time of 9:16.
Whitko finishes at 5-2 in TRC action.
The Whitko ladies also collected two wins with 75 points to beat Valley (49) and North Miami (29).
Kaitlyn Reed was the top performer for Whitko with wins in the 100 ad the high jump.
Also victorious for the Wildcats were Brigit Nemitz in the 1,600, Elaine Warner in the 300 hurdles, Abby Overmeyer in the 200, Taylor Zwick in the long jump, Michelle Kelsey in the 3,200 and Dana Hobbs in the discus.
The Whitko ladies also won the 4 X 100 relay with the team of Zwick, Warner, Overmeyer and Reghan Craig.
The Whitko teams will compete in the TRC Meet Thursday night at Tippecanoe Valley.
