Ester M. Long
Ester M. Long, 88, Gas City, Ind., formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in her residence.
She was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Warsaw, Ind., to William A. and Linney Leoda (Sell) Shand. She was united in marriage to Russell Long on April 20, 1946, in Warsaw.
A former Warsaw, Ind., and Fort Myers, Fla., resident she has resided in Gas City, Ind., since 2002. She was a1945 graduate of Ravenscroft Beauty School, Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a lifelong Cosmetologist and formerly was the owner of the Golden Girl Salon, Warsaw. She was a former member of the First United Methodist and Walnut Creek United Methodist Church both of Warsaw. Other memberships include the National Hairdresser’s Association, Warsaw Square Dance Club, County Home Extension (Fort Myers, Fla.), Fort Myers Sewing Guild and was a registered instructor of the All Japan Bunka Embroidery Association.
She is survived by daughters: Linda (Dennis) Johnson, Gas City; Pat (Robert) Craig, Warsaw; a son: Larry (Diana) Long, Warsaw; a twin brother: Lester Shand, Burnettsville, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday May 9, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, in the funeral chapel with Pastor Doug Davies officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
