YMCA Sharks Wraps Up Winter Season
The YMCA’s Sharks Swim Team finished out the 2013-2014 season with their awards banquet on March 30.
Some major celebrations for the team were at YMCA State Meet held at Notre Dame March 7-9 where the team finished 4th. Individual point winners were Brenna Morgan who received 2nd in the 13- and 14-year-old age group, Grant Knight placed 2nd in the 11-12 year old boys age group, and Finn Bayle placed 3rd high point in the 7 and under age group.
The following weekend, on March 14-16, was Age Group State in Indianapolis. Brenna Morgan finish 2nd in the 50 free, 9th in the 100 free, 9th in the 200 free and 13th in the 500 free. Grant Knight was 9th in the 100 breaststroke and 10th in the 50 breaststroke.
The following weekend YMCA Zone at Ohio State, Grant Knight finished 6th in the 100 breaststroke and in the 50 breaststroke was 8th. Delaney Wihebrink finished 17th in the 50 breaststroke.
At the awards banquet the MVP swimmers were Lucy Ray, Ty Lorcharoensery, Ian Wihebrink, Gracie Willig, Delaney Wihebrink, Jacob LaLonde, Olivia Herman, Stacie Woolley and David Roberts.
MIP award winners were Kayla Smith, Finn Bayle, Cooper Archer, Sarah Barker, Gracie Scholl, Michael Ray, Evan Borchers, and Lauren Kuhl.

This season the team had 85 swimmers ages 5 to 17. The Sharks began their summer season on April 22. Sign ups are still going on now.
As a member of the Sharks, swimmers will develop their competitive skills, stroke techniques and endurance in a supportive learning environment. Participation builds character, teamwork, and encourages individual achievement.
Every Sharks swimmer has the opportunity to compete in meets throughout the season. Swimmers must be at least 5 years of age, able to swim one length of a 25 yard pool while putting their face in the water, and must be a member of the Y.
