Conley’s Voting Record Is Reckless
Dear Editor,
So I have have been keeping up with all of this drama over the vote for the local county commissioner. After reading some of the articles in the paper about the challenger, Jon Fussle, I wondered why there were so many attacks.
Then more articles, more slander came, more and more and more came. I wondered why in the world is this guy being bashed so hard? I’m one to like to think for myself, and look at the facts, so I did.
I went to kcgov.com and I studied the minutes over the last few years, here is what I found about the incumbent, Bob Conley:
In 2006 there were 167 different items being voted on, not one nay from Conley.
In 2007 – 168 votes, no nays from Conley
In 2008 – 169 votes, not one nay from Conley
In 2009 – 137 votes, 1 nay from Conley
In 2010 – 157 votes, not one nay from Conley
In 2011 – 135 votes, not one nay from Conley
In 2012 – 137 votes, not one nay from Conley
In 2013 – 138 votes, not one nay from Conley.
That totals to 1,208 items Conley voted on with, count them, 1 NAY. That means that Conley is voting 99.991% of the time with the political machine.
I started to wonder why Bob Conley would be so cruel to a young challenger, looking to bring a fresh look to the county proceedings. Read for yourself at how liberally Bob Conley spends your hard earned property tax.
He voted to pay Google $15,180 for Internet things … it’s not clear on what they are paying. Bob Conley has voted for MILLIONS in spending without giving it one second thought.
I’m a mess financially, yet the county is in great shape from the fruits of my labor, and my taxes, and Bob Conley votes to give it all to Google.
I talked to Bob at his barber shop. I asked him about the Google money he approved, and he did not recall the vote. Are you serious? His cluelessness to his seat as a commissioner was staggering.
I can’t and will not vote for Bob Conley, no matter the challenger, based on his wreckless voting, and oblivious approach to county government, and life in general.
So at the end of the day I wonder, should I vote for Jon Fussle or Bob Conley? Let’s look at the facts: Bob was educated at barber school and gossips at his business for a living, he shows up to his commissioner meetings and takes out his rubber stamp and votes yes to almost everything.
Or, vote for Jon Fussle, a young, free thinker, who has been educated in political science, who has traveled the world to see what exactly works, and what doesn’t, a guy who has not been perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but truly believes that we can do better as a community.
The choice is becoming more and more obvious to me.
