Joshua Harold Copp
Joshua Harold Copp, 35, of rural South Whitley, Ind., passed away early Monday morning, April 14, 2014, due to natural causes.
He was born July 2, 1978, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Jeffrey O. and Connie R. (Johnson) Copp. In 1979, his family moved to Osceola, Ind., from Oakbrook, Ill. In 1985, the family moved to Rehrersburg, Pa. He graduated from Tulpehocken High School in Bernville, Pa., where he played soccer and basketball. In 1998 he returned to Indiana to live in Columbia City, Ind. On Oct. 6, 2001, he was united in marriage to Anna R. Siegrist. They made their home in rural Columbia City until moving to their present home on April 14, 2009.
In addition to livestock farming, he was a very talented musician. He established the bands, High Moon, Huckleberry Blue and Blue Bird Revival of which he was the lead singer and played various instruments. Columbia City Church of the Brethren was his church of membership.
He is survived by his wife; a son: Jeffrey Robert Copp, at home; his parents; three siblings: Miriam (Michael) Copp Johnson, Philadelphia, Pa.; Charles (Amelia) Copp, Decatur, Ga.; Peter (Kate) Copp, Columbia City; and his in-laws: Bob and Sandy Siegrist, Columbia City; Jonathan Siegrist, Columbus Ohio; David Siegrist, Valparaiso, Ind.; and Deborah Wolf, Syracuse, Ind.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Columbia City United Methodist Church, 605 Forest Parkway. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the church with Reverend Dennis Beckner officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery.
