Donald Stephenson
Donald Stephenson, 69, of rural Rochester, Ind., passed away at 6 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at his residence after being ill since July.
He was born June 25, 1944, in Princeton, Ind., to Coen E. and Marie (Carwile) Stephenson. On April 21, 1990, he married Verna R. Weiger in Plymouth, Ind.
Donald was a supervisor for Lau Industries of Rochester retiring at the age of 62. He also had worked for Reynolds Metals in Bourbon, Ind.
He graduated from Milford High School in 1962, then served his country in Vietnam serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the VFW of Rochester and the American Legion in Bourbon.
He enjoyed working outside which included mowing yard and gardening. He also liked to fish.
He is survived by his wife: Verna R. Stephenson, Rochester; a son: Donald Stephenson Jr., Kaw City, Okla.; step children: Angela, Chris (Linda), and Rodney (Sherri); three grandchildren: Coen, Ethan and Evan; four step grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Jessica and Bailey; a brother: Wade (companion Linda) Stephenson, Rochester; his mother-in-law: Ilean Rose Weiger, Tippecanoe, Ind.; a sister-in-law: Vicki Brockey, Tippecanoe; and his Springer Spaniel: Rusty.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Coen E. and Marie (Carwile) Stephenson; and two brothers: Edward and Warren Stephenson.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, at Mentone Cemetery in Mentone, Ind. Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten will officiate. Graveside military rites are to be preformed by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
Arrangements are with King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
