Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Wednesday, March 12, 5:49 p.m. East Armstrong Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Hector L. Sanchez, 48, West Sycamore Road, Warsaw; and Michele K. Tyson, East Armstrong Road, Leesburg. Sanchez was eastbound on Armstrong and Tyson was westbound. Sanchez reportedly lost control of his vehicle, which was hauling a Volkswagen car, and came back onto the road in Tyson’s lane. Though Tyson tried to move over to make room for Sanchez, Tyson struck the rear of Sanchez’s vehicle. Tyson complained of lower leg pain and stated she would seek medical help on her own. Damages: up to $25,000
Wednesday, March 12, 5:29 a.m. South Packerton Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Charles R. Keim, 60, North Maple Street, North Manchester. Keim lost control of his vehicle due to snow and went off the roadway. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, March 12, 4:57 a.m. West 900 North, Milford. Driver: Timothy R. Hetzner, 29, South Warbler Lane, Warsaw. Hetzner lost control of his vehicle due to snow and struck a utility pole. Damages: up to $5,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Thursday, March 13, 8:48 a.m. Winona Avenue and Buffalo Street. Drivers: William J. Frush, 56, West 300 South, Warsaw; and Angela N. Stukkie, 22, Lakeland Drive, Warsaw. Frush was eastbound on Winona Avenue when he rear-ended Stukkie, who was stopped at the intersection. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, March 12, 1:46 p.m. Detroit and Fort Wayne streets. Drivers: Derrick W. Pressler, 26, North Maple Drive, Warsaw; and Joyce A. Judd, South Lake Street, Warsaw. Pressler was southbound on SR 15 when, thinking he had a green light, he proceeded through the intersection just as Judd, who also believed she had a green light, did as well. A witness at the scene claimed that Pressler ran the light. Officers at the scene noted that the south face of the traffic signals was covered with snow, obscuring the lens of the lights and making it impossible to tell if the light was red, yellow or green. Judd complained of pain all over her body. Damages: up to $25,000
Wednesday, March 12, 8:01 a.m. East Center Street. Drivers: Jonathyn C. Zapf, 22, Kuder Lane, Warsaw; and Kristen D. Thomas, 46, Coronet Street, Angola. Due to road conditions, Zapf rear-ended Thomas’s vehicle as she attempted to stop for a red light. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, March 12, 7:50 a.m. Detroit Street. Drivers: Melissa Notarte Licupa, 36, East Smith Street, Warsaw; Jean R. Osborn, 46, Warsaw; and James T. Marshall, 50, West Center Street, Burket. According to an officer who observed the crash, Licupa was northbound on Detroit Street traveling toward the center portion of the left/northbound lane and a faster speed than safe for road conditions and began sliding sideways. Licupa’s vehicle then straightened out and crashed head-on with Osborn, pushing Osborn into Marshall’s adjacent vehicle. Osborn complained of shoulder pain. Damages: Up to $50,000
Wednesday, March 12, 7:17 a.m. North Detroit Street. Drivers: James R. Clifton, 37, Indiana Street, Wabash; and Carla L. Kizer, 62, Pine Street, Warsaw. Clifton was attempting to turn from the left lane into McDonald’s on Detroit Street and did not see Kizer next to him. Damages: up to $5,000
Wednesday, March 12, 6:53 a.m. North Detroit Street. Drivers: Blake M. Landis, 25, North Lindsay Street, Claypool; and Adam W. Lock, 23, South Ridgeview Court, Warsaw. Landis attempted to make a turn onto Detroit Street from Lyon Street and lost control of his vehicle causing Lock to collide with his vehicle. Landis was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for facial injuries and bleeding. Damages: up to $10,000
