Milford Declares April Month Of Military Child
Prior to Milford Town Council’s regular meeting Monday, council member Dan Cochran was contacted by Indiana Operation: Military Kids State Team. The team requested the town’s help in the statewide celebration of military youth by locally declaring April the Month of the Military Child.
April is recognized nationally as the Month of the Military Child, and Indiana cities and towns are getting on board. Indiana Operation: Military Kids State Team noted in its letter to Cochran that there are more than 19,000 military connected youth and many more veterans’ children in Indiana, with every city and town in the state serving as a home to military youth.
Multiple celebrations are planned across Indiana to recognize these youths, including Purple Up! Day on April 15, when individuals in the state are encouraged to wear purple to show their support for military youths.
Council president Robert Cockburn supported the idea noting, “Anything we can do for the military, we should do.”
The council voted unanimously to make the declaration.
