NWS: Flood Warning Extended
Although water is subsiding from area roads and fields, a Flood Warning has been extended for the Tippecanoe River near Ora through this weekend.
The National Weather Service office near North Webster has extended the warning through 4 p.m. Sunday noting that, at 8 p.m. last night, the stage was 14.0 feet and steady. Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
In the Flood Warning is the Tippecanoe River near Ora affecting Kosciusko, Fulton, Marshall and Starke counties. Moderate flooding will continue through the week and weekend.
It is projected that the river will fall below the 12.0 foot flood stage around 4 p.m. Saturday. That crest compares to a previous crest of 14.4 feet which occurred on April 21, 2013. At 14 feet, extensive flooding of residences and low lying areas begins.
