Accused Oxycodone Dealer Arrested
Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers arrested a local man Wednesday for selling a powerful pain medication to undercover narcotics officers.
Shane A. Smith, 26, of Milford, has preliminarily been charged with felony dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, in this case oxycodone. The charge is a B felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
A press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department also notes DTF undercover officers had made previous purchases of prescription medication from Smith while he lived in Syracuse.
Smith is currently being held on a $10,000 bond in the Kosciusko County Jail.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Rocky Goshert stated that concerned citizens in the community were instrumental in this arrest. He advised that the public is encouraged to call the Kosciusko County TIP line at 574-372-2494, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to leave their anonymous information for any drug or criminal activity in Kosciusko County.
Smith’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
