Board Seeks Volunteer For County BZA
Syracuse Town Council is looking for someone to represent the town on the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals as there is a vacancy due to the death of John Connolly. Town manager Henry DeJulia suggested asking the public for assistance during the council’s regular monthly meeting Tuesday night.
A term on the BZA is for four years, however, Connolly had a little more than three years left to serve in his current term.
The county BZA meets at 8:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month. A preliminary BZA meeting takes place a week prior to the regular monthly meeting for members to become familiar with the agenda.
County BZA meetings are held in the Justice Building and in the offices of the Kosciusko County Area Planning Commission, 100 W. Center St., Warsaw. These meetings can run anywhere from one to four hours in length.
Occasionally there are special meetings, inspections or committee duties that will take more time. Each member of the BZA receives a stipend of $83.82 per meeting.
The council would like anyone interested in representing Syracuse on the county BZA live within the town limits. Anyone interested in learning more about the position should contact DeJulia at 574-457-3348.
