Triton’s Carpenter Receives Honor
BOURBON – Triton High School boys and girls golf coach Jack Carpenter has been selected to receive the National Federation of State High School Associations 2013 Central Sectional Coach of the Year award for Boys Golf.
Carpenter, earlier in the year, received the Boys Golf Coach of the Year for the state of Indiana. Because of this prestigious award, he was a candidate for the NFHS National Coach of the Year. The NFHS recognizes coaches at the state, sectional, and national level.
The Central Sectional includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Coach Carpenter was selected among the coaches from these five states as the NFHS Central Sectional Coach of the Year. His 2013 boys golf team advanced to the IHSAA State Golf finals and finished 14th overall as a team. Coach Carpenter also had two individuals finish in the top 25: Ryan Rapp (5th place) and Quentyn Carpenter (24th place). Both Ryan and Quentyn also made the 2013 Boys Golf All-State Team.
The Triton Athletic Department will recognize Coach Carpenter at the Triton vs Mishawaka Marian Boys Basketball game on February 1. The 2013 Triton Boys Golf team and All-State team members Ryan Rapp and Quentyn Carpenter will also be on hand to be honored and to help Coach Carpenter celebrate this prestigious award.
