James A. Whitaker, 55, of North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 1:09 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Nov. 14, 1958, in Warsaw, Ind., to Reuben Jr. and Shirley (Barton) Whitaker.

He is survived by his mother: Shirley Winkler, North Manchester; two brothers: Thomas (Debbie) Whitaker and Timothy Whitaker, both of North Manchester; five sisters: Frances (John) Moore, Wabash, Ind.; June Johnson, North Manchester; Joyce (Steve) Farmer, Warsaw, Ind.; Patricia Davis, Mississippi; and Florence Rogers, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 W. North Manchester. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St., North Manchester. Steve Farmer will officiate.
