Communication Tower Approved By BZA
Among the agenda items for the regular monthly meeting of the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals Tuesday in Warsaw were two petitions by Workhorse International Holding. One petition asked for an exception to construction a communication tower and the other for a variance to permit construction within one mile of an existing tower.
The tower, approved by the BZA, is for the Bison property on Waubee Road at the intersection with SR 15 in Milford. Matt Sandy, assistant planning director for the county, said the tower will be used by Bison as a means of communication between its buildings.
Other agenda items included:
• Brian and Tracey Heald were granted a variance to allow a residence addition on Ideal Beach Road, north of SR 13 in Turkey Creek Township.
• Two petitions from Richard Horner were denied. A permit was issued for a structure to be rebuilt on property located on EMS W17 Lane in Tippecanoe Township, but Sandy noted it was built far closer to the property lines than the permit allowed.
• Nadia Kidun’s petition for a variance to allow construction of a new single family residence on Goldilocks Lane at the intersection with Biscayne Lane was approved.
• Peggy Gerkin’s petition for a variance to reconstruct a deck in the exact footprint was continued until the February meeting. Sandy noted no permits were issued for the original deck and the board wanted all of the members present before making a decision. The property is located on EMS B40A Lane in Tippecanoe Township.
• Scott Anderson was granted a variance to build a 40 x 50 building to expand his home based business on CR 800N at the intersection with CR 400E in Van Buren Township.
• And Ed and Erin Gerwels were granted a variance to build a residence addition 20 feet from the right of way and 10 feet from the side property line, further away than originally petitioned, on EMS D23 Lane at Dewart Lake in Van Buren Township.
