Grace To Host Full Day Of Hoops
WINONA LAKE – The Grace College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hosting of the Warsaw Community High School vs. Triton girls’ basketball doubleheader at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center on Saturday.
The girls’ junior varsity and varsity doubleheader will tip off on Saturday evening shortly after Grace’s varsity basketball teams wrap up a doubleheader with rival Bethel College. The Lady Lancers’ clash with the Pilots will start at 1 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at approximately 3 p.m. The Warsaw-Triton JV game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
Warsaw is 4-7 on the season after a pair of impressive wins Monday to win the championship of its own TCU Lady Tiger Tournament. Triton sits at 7-3 on the year.
The Grace College women’s team of coach Scott Blum is 6-9 overall and 2-1 in Crossroads League play heading into Saturday’s tilt with Bethel. The Pilots of coach Jody Martinez are 7-8 overall and also 2-1 in conference action.
The Grace College men’s team is 7-6 overall and 0-3 in league play. Coach Jim Kessler’s team hosts Ashford today at 4 p.m. before entertaining Bethel on Saturday. The Pilots of coach Mike Lighfoot are 12-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Bethel plays Northwood University tonight in the Chuck Daly Memorial Tournament in Florida before facing the Lancers.
Saturday is also “Biomet Day” at the MOCC for the Grace/Bethel basketball doubleheader. All Biomet employees and their families will be admitted free of charge to the Grace men’s and women’s games against Crossroads League foe Bethel.
Saturday will also be “Kids Day” at Grace. Any student, along with one accompanying parent, will also be admitted free of charge Saturday for the games versus Bethel.
