Snowfall Possible Tonight And Tomorrow
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a “Special Weather Statement” for Kosciusko, Elkhart, Marshall, La Porte, St. Joseph, Starke, Cass and Berrien counties stating that a period of moderate to heavy snow is expected to develop after 4 p.m. today.
According to the NWS, snowfall is expected to continue into the mid-evening tonight with the most intense period of snowfall lasting only 3-4 hours. The NWS projects a possible 2-4 inches of snowfall and warns this will have an adverse impact on road conditions during the evening. Roads are expected to become slick and snow covered and commuters are encouraged to use caution.
In addition to tonight’s snowfall, the NWS predicts that light snowfall is likely on Tuesday. Light accumulations of 1-2 inches are expected with areas of blowing and drifting snow.
The NWS states that low pressure is expected to develop across the southern plains and move toward the Ohio Valley for the weekend. The exact track and timing remains uncertain, however the potential exists for what the NWS calls “a mixed bag” of weather conditions.
