Col. David L. Chauncey Sr.
David L. Chauncey, I, Colonel (U.S. Army Ret.), 91, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 12:26 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, in his residence.
He was born Aug. 25, 1922, to Alvin L. and Virginia B (Campbell) Chauncey. He is a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis class of 1940. In addition, he is a graduate of the United States Army Command and Staff College. On June 7, 1942, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Read who preceded him in death.
He faithfully served his Country from 1942 to 1972 during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict as an enlisted man, officer and civilian employee. From 1972 to 1978 the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County employed him. He was a 62-year member of Logan Masonic Lodge #575, Indianapolis; a 35-year member of Scottish Rite Marion County Valley and the Murat Shrine of Indianapolis; the Military Officers of America and Legion Post #253 of North Webster.
He is survived by his son: David L. (Faye) Chauncey, II; grandchildren: Cindy Chauncey; Brad (Brandi); and great-granddaughter: Megan Chauncey.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
