Salvation Army Is ‘Agency Of The Year”
The Salvation Army of Kosciusko County recently received the “Agency of the Year” Award from the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. The award was presented at a recent training seminar to recognize the food pantry that partners “in the fight to end hunger in Northern Indiana.”
The Salvation Army developed the first “choice pantry” in Kosciusko County in 2004 after renovations to their building and expansion of services. A “choice pantry” allows the people coming in for food to choose items they can use and about 200 orders are given out to those in need.
Donations to the pantry come from business, churches and families and The Salvation Army also purchases food from the Food Bank and receives USDA items to distribute. The award was given for accountability, friendliness and service to others in need.
