Local EMTs Win ‘CPR Throw Down’
Kosciusko County Emergency Medical Technicians won the American Heart Association High Quality CPR Throw Down that was held at the EMS World Expo in Las Vegas on Sept. 10-11.
The team consisted of Keith Robbins, an Advance EMT with Multi-Township EMS; Carl Wireman, a paramedic for Parkview Samaritan and Huntington County EMS; Cody Manges a paramedic for MTEMS, North Webster EMS and Syracuse Fire Department; and Tyler Huffer, a paramedic for MTEMS and North Webster EMS.
The four-person crew demonstrated on a CPR Manikin four minutes of high quality CPR and ventilations. There were 30 teams throughout the country that competed in the CPR Throw Down.
The crews were judge on the following areas for the competition: rate and quality of the chest compressions, rate and quality of the ventilations, and how they worked as a team during the 4 minutes.
