Aug. 17 marked the 50th wedding anniversary of Lowell and Sharon Chapman, Syracuse, formerly of Nappanee. The couple’s son hosted an open house Aug. 18 and family gathered to celebrate with the Chapmans in their Dewart Lake home.

Reverend Robert Fields united the couple in marriage during a 1963 ceremony which took place at the Church of the Brethren, Mac Dr., Nappanee.

They raised a son, Allen Chapman, and daughter, Marcia (Chapman) Kretschmer, in the Nappanee community before retiring to divide their time between homes on Dewart Lake, Syracuse and in Sarasota, Fla.

Daughter-in-law: Merrie Chapman; granddaughter: Brynna Kretschmer; and grandsons: Alec and Andrew Chapman:all joined in the August anniversary celebration.
