UPDATE: Father, Daughter Killed In Accident With Train
UPDATE: The names of the victims killed early this morning in an accident involving a train in Sidney have now been released.
The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office says Wesley Teague Cox, 37, of Laketon, and his daughter, 4-year-old Grace Cox, died at the scene of the crash.
According to the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./crash investigation team, Wesley Cox was crossing the SR 13 railroad crossing in Sidney at 4:42 a.m. when he pulled his car into the path of an eastbound Norfolk Southern 61-car freight train. The investigation is still on-going.
Also assisting at the scene were members of the Sidney/Jackson Township Fire Department, Life-Med E.M.S. and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
BREAKING: Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Chad Hill now says this morning’s accident involving a vehicle and a train resulted in the deaths of two people.
The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./crash investigation team and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office are currently working a car vs. train double fatality that occurred early this morning in the town of Sidney.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded to a 4:42 a.m. call of a vehicle that had been struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train at the SR 13 crossing in Sidney.
The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office is currently in the process of notifying family members. While police are not providing any other details at this time, initial scanner traffic indicated the victims to be a child and a male driver of the vehicle.
