Width Restrictions Noted For U.S. 6
The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that width restrictions are now in place on U.S. 6, between CRs 56 and 15, approximately 2 miles east of Nappanee. The restrictions are in place while bridge construction over the Wagner Ditch continues.
The lane width is now restricted to 12 feet for permitting purposes. There is signage in place at the intersections of U.S. 6 and SR 19, SR 15 and CR 9, which indicate the distance to the construction limits. The route is closed to transport of mobile homes. This restriction is in effect from Monday, July 22, to approximately Sept. 27.
Traffic at the Wagner Ditch bridge is currently controlled by temporary traffic signals. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in alternating directions. The temporary signals will be in place until the project is complete in the fall of 2013.
The purpose of the project is to provide continued safety to the traveling public. The project was awarded to Primco based on the low bid of $1.4 million.
