Richard E. Mangum Sr., 89, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at the Maples at Waterford on July 22, 2013, in Goshen, Ind. 

He was born on Oct. 8, 1923, in Evansville, Ind., to Robert and Nellie (Ulrey) Mangum. In June of 1946, he married Lorraine Lytell who preceded him in 2003. 

He was a US Army veteran and was a member of the Syracuse American Legion and the Calvary United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the boat in service. 

He is survived by his son: Richard Mangum, Syracuse; one brother: Robert Mangum Jr., Goshen.

There will be a graveside service at the Syracuse Cemetery on 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013.  Eastlund Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
