Football Digest Set To Debut
MISHAWAKA – The Indiana Football Digest will debut its 2013 issue on Friday, July 19 at the Grange Insurance North-South All-Star Football Classic at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
In addition to putting a bow on the 2012 campaign with recaps of all five state championship games, the 428-page publication will have previews and photos for all of the Indiana high school and colleges playing football this coming fall.
The outstanding magazine will feature a pair of area prep stars on its cover this year as part of its Prime Time 25. Gracing the cover of the publication will be Warsaw senior Tristan McClone and Tippecanoe Valley senior Tanner Andrews. McClone rushed for a school record 1,718 yards in 2012, including a school single-game mark of 322 versus Northridge. He also scored 16 touchdowns for coach Phil Jensen’s Tigers. Andrews, a wide receiver/defensive back, had 37 receptions for over 700 yards and seven touchdowns his junior season. Andrews, also a standout on the basketball court where he helped Valley win conference and sectional titles this past season, helped coach Jeff Shriver’s Vikings post an 8-3 record and claim a share of its second straight conference championship a year ago.
“We have come a long way since the first book I published in 1992,” said IFD publisher Paul R. Condry, “When you compare 1992’s 72-page edition to this year 428-page edition, we have matured and grown up a lot.”
Along with breaking down the top teams and players to watch in 2013, there will be plenty of special features to check out along with the unveiling of the Prime Time 25 players on the cover.
Among the can’t-miss articles are tributes to former North Posey coach Carl Joe Gengelbach and current Hobart assistant coach Steve Balash.
There will also be human interest pieces involving Paoli coach Brian Balsmeyer, East Noble’s Luke Amstutz, and Levon Johnson of Elkhart Central.
“I think our core group of writers captured the excitement of “Friday Night Lights” here in Indiana,” stated Condry. “I am grateful to the Indianapolis Colts and our many remarkable sponsors who support our football initiatives with the IFD and our Griddy’s Awards program. I am also very thankful to all of the Indiana high school football coaches who work so hard in promoting their programs, athletes and communities through the IFD.”
Copies of the magazine will be available after July 19 at www.indianafootballdigest.com for $15 plus shipping and handling.
The publication will also be at select Barnes and Noble book stores and other select sponsors for $15. Check the website for locations.
