Maxine S. Whitaker
Maxine S. Whitaker, 84, of Silver Lake, Ind., passed away at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw, Ind.
She was born May 14, 1929, in Floyd County, Ky., to Cager and Duce (Hackworth) Spradlin.
She was a 52-year resident of Silver Lake. On May 21, 1946, in Prestonsburg, Ky., she was united in marriage to Ellis Whitaker, who preceded her on Oct. 21, 1987.
She was a 33-year employee of Heckaman Bindery of North Manchester, Ind., retiring in 2004. She attended Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church, God’s Highway to Heaven Church and Water of Life Pentecostal Church.
Maxine is survived by her son: Lloyd (Pearlie) Whitaker, Silver Lake; grandchildren: Angela Davis, Akron, Ind.; and Scott (Kelly) Whitaker, Bourbon, Ind.; great-grandchildren: Zachary Scott, Paige, Lauryn, Haley and Hunter; and a brother: Estill (Arbdella) Spradlin, Marshall, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers, one sister and great-grandson: Austin Ellis.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Services are scheduled for 12 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the funeral home. Pastors Harry Crace and Junior Arnett will officiate the services. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
