Eighteen Vie For Queen Of Lakes
The 2013 Queen of Lakes pageant will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the North Webster Community Center gymnasium.
The pageant is sponsored by North Webster Lioness and Lions Clubs and Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation Inc. and is open to ladies ages 16 through 23. The theme for this year’s Mermaid Festival, including the pageant, will be “Land of Dixie.”
Over $10,000 in scholarship money and prizes will be awarded to the 2013 Queen of Lakes and her court. Contestants will be judged on interview, theme wear and formal gown.
Four finalists will be chosen princesses for 2013. The Queen will be chosen from four finalists following the final question.
The Queen of Lakes will hold the title for one year. The final four will receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000. The Lioness Club Community Service Award winner will receive a monetary prize of $100. Scholarships will also be awarded for the top three Mermaid Festival Parade Queen’s Conveyances.
There are 18 young women vying for the title of Queen of Lakes. This year’s contestants are:

Elizabeth Dowell, North Webster, daughter of Steve and Lana Dowell, is “Miss Little Barbee Lake.” She is sponsored by T. Manley Trading Company, North Webster.
Erin Kintzel, Warsaw, daughter of Jim and Aimee Kintzel, is “Miss Crystal Lake.” She is sponsored by Osborn Manufacturing Corp., Warsaw.
