Dorothy Shirk Named Menno Travel Manager
Dorothy Shirk has been named Manager of Menno Travel/American Express, downtown Goshen, according to Geof Landis, Menno Travel president and co-owner.
“Dorothy has been an integral part of Menno Travel since she joined us in 1986. During that time, she has directed the group department, worked with personnel and directed marketing. As a long-time member of the management team and current manager of the vacation department, Dorothy will now have day-to-day supervision of office operations and personnel. Our growth in the past three years and the opportunities we see in the future require that we plan for continued growth in the next ten years. This promotion moves us in that direction.”
Landis stated that the company’s profits in 2011 and 2012 were the highest since the 1990s. “In my more than 30 years at Menno Travel, we have earned a profit every year. We are positioned to take advantage of the growing demand for travel, especially managed corporate travel, incentive travel, and all kinds of vacation travel.”
Menno Travel is the largest single-office travel agency in northern Indiana and is a representative of the American Express Retail Travel Network. Menno Travel opened its Goshen office in 1953 and will celebrate its 60th anniversary in October.
