Dance Schools Production ‘In The News’
The Lee Anne Stewart Dance Schools’ annual dance production is a celebration of 40 years serving many area communities. “In the News,” this year’s annual dance production, is the culmination of nine months of training for the studio’s hard-working dance students and staff at Lee Anne Stewart.
The Nappanee studio will hold its performances at Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 8, and 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9. Performances will also be held for Syracuse studio dancers at Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15; and 4 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Tickets for all productions are just $8.50 each.
The two current studio locations, Nappanee and Syracuse, provide students from many surrounding communities including Warsaw, Leesburg and Goshen, a fun, relaxed place to learn dance skills and appreciate dance as an art form. The annual dance production serves as a celebration and an inside glimpse at the performance profession.
“This year’s show is a tip of the hat to the newspaper industry,” says Lee Anne Stewart, exclusive owner and operator of the dance schools. “Newspapers have been a driving force in communication and continue to adapt and thrive in the age of electronics. Each dance in the show was carefully selected to represent a different section of the news.”
Some of the songs audiences will enjoy at this year’s shows include “Carrying the Banner” from Broadway’s Newsies, “Radioactive,” “Dr. Feel Good,” “Seven Nation Army” and “I Do.”
Many of the dancers are taking classes as a form of fun exercise and a way to interact with friends, while other dancers train more extensively. All Lee Anne Stewart dancers, from beginners through Fusion Dance Team members, perform in the June shows.
Also during the productions, over 50 students will receive awards for 5, 10 and 15 years of taking classes at the Stewart Dance schools. “I’m so proud of each of the students performing, but I love recognizing the young dancers who reach these milestones in their dance education,” boasts Stewart.
