Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the followin accidents:
Tuesday, May 28, 7:24 a.m. South SR 15 and West 550 South, Warsaw. Driver: Steven A. Lane, 63, Damron Drive, North Manchester. A deer ran into Lane’s vehicle. Damages: up to $5,000
Monday, May 27, 12:55 p.m. North SR 13 and North 650 East, Syracuse. Driver: Mervin D. Miller, 30, West Hepton Road, Nappanee. Miller was southbound on SR 13 and came upon a vehicle turning into a driveway with another vehicle stopped behind it. Miller said he had to swerve to miss the vehicles, and drove into a yard where he struck a utility pole and several posts. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, May 26, 8:40 p.m. West 600 North and North SR 15, Leesburg. Driver: Candace M. Lecount, 25, Greenhill Drive, Warsaw. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $5,000
Sunday, May 26, 4:48 p.m. South SR 13 and East Ryerson Road, Pierceton. Driver: Christopher J. Carter, 23, North SR 9, Alexandria. Driver fell asleep at the wheel while southbound on SR 13. Carter woke up and overcorrected his vehicle, which left the east side of the road and overturned into a creek. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, May 26, 5:50 a.m. North SR 13 and East 1120 N., Syracuse. Drivers: Douglas R. Morris, 54, Sextant Court, Fishers; and Christopher J. Lackey, 18, East Haiden Driver, Syracuse. A deer ran in front of Lackey’s vehicle, so he applied the brakes to avoid hitting it and was rear-ended by Morris’ vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Tuesday, May 28, 6:12 a.m. West Market and South Lake streets. Drivers: Rodney A. Grossman, 32, West 1000 South, Silver Lake; and Antonio Rico, East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Grossman was westbound on West Market Street and failed to stop for a red light. He drove into the path of Rico’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Monday, May 27, 5:06 p.m. East Center and South Johnson streets. Drivers: Ashlie R. Yates, 24, Highlander Drive, Warsaw; and David J. Heilig, 45, North Aspen Drive, Warsaw. Both drivers were westbound on Center Street when Yates failed to notice Heilig’s vehicle slowing to make a left turn into a parking lot. She attempted to swerve around the vehicle but collided with the rear. Damages: up to $5,000
