Warsaw’s Jensen Butler-Bound
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School’s Samantha Jensen signed a letter of intent today to continue her student-athlete path in Indianapolis at Butler University.
Jensen, a three-year letter-winner in track & field and two year letterman in Volleyball, will throw discus at Butler for coach Matt Roe and the Bulldogs.
The Tiger senior was the Northern Lakes Conference champion this year in discus and her toss of 141’-1” on Tuesday night at the Tigers Athletic Complex was tops in the sectional field to help the Tigers to their seventh-consecutive sectional championship. Jensen, a Regional qualifier last year in discus, was chosen as Academic All-State for track as well as volleyball this season, and was honored with the TV-46 Student-Athlete of the Week award in her senior year.
Jensen has been impressive on the courts and on the throwers pad, and her impact on the school and community has been tremendous. A four-year member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Jensen has served student council all four years, and was a member of the Tiger Student Athletic Board, the Octagon Club, and the National Honor Society. She also served five years working as a counselor for the Dick Powers Volleyball camp, worked with elementary-aged youth teaching volleyball and leadership, served an internship at DePuy, and was a People to People Student Ambassador on a 3-week tour of Europe.
While Jenson has made her mark and stood out on the courts, pads and in the community, she has certainly carried that approach to excellence to the classroom where she has achieved a remarkable 13.00 GPA on a 12-point scale and ranks eighth out of 492 students in the WCHS senior class. She intends to major in Physicians Assistant program at Butler.
