Honor Your Hero At The Fair
Personal heroes are those people who have impacted our lives in a positive way. To some, heroes are a parent who sacrificed so much. To others, it could be a sibling, a teacher, or even a neighbor who is always there to lend a helping hand.
Whether your hero is your mom or dad or an American solider, the Kosciusko County Community Fair wants to know who that hero is and wants to honor them.
This year’s fair theme, A Salute to Heroes, is meant to honor anyone who someone views as their hero. During the fair’s opening ceremony on July 8, A Salute to Heroes slide show will be presented featuring the names and photos of everyone that someone calls a hero. The Salute to Heroes program will also feature some special guests and surprises.
A special presentation of all heroes will also be displayed throughout fair week. Fair board president Mike Loher said the board and planning committees continue the process of finding ways to honor heroes throughout fair week, July 8-13.
For the July 8 slideshow, photos of heroes are needed. The fair board is asking for photos to be emailed or dropped off at the fair office to be included in the presentation. Include the name of the individual to be honored with the photo.
Following the Salute to Heroes slide show presentation and other opening ceremony events, including the introduction of the Kosciusko’s Got Talent contest winners, Susie
McEntire will be in concert at 8 p.m. in the grandstands. (See story)
General admission to the concert will be by freewill donation with reserved track seating tickets selling for $15 each. Tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the fair box office.
The fair is now accepting photos of those who are heroes to someone. Photos, along with the hero’s name, can be emailed to the fair for inclusion in the video presentation. Photos must be received by June 1 and can be emailed to [email protected], or mailed (not to be returned) to the Kosciusko County Community Fair, 1400 E. Smith St., P.O. Box 1093, Warsaw, IN 46581.
As in past years, the fair parade, which kicks off fair week – this year slated for July 7-13 – will again be held on Sunday, July 7. The time has not yet been announced. The midway will open Monday, July 8.
