Missing Woman Sought, Warrant Issued
Since Aurora Shoemaker went missing, two seasons have come and gone without even a clue to her whereabouts.
Since Shoemaker disappeared, she had a 19th birthday, but there was no cake or even a reason to celebrate.
On Aug. 16, 2012, Aurora Shoemaker seemingly vanished without a trace. It’s been more than 8 months and yet her family still has no idea what happened to her. Police are also a loss.
Every tip or alleged sighting of the young woman has been followed, but as of yet, there has not been any evidence that would lead them to Aurora or even a clue as to what happened to her.
“She is in mine, her siblings and her father’s thoughts everyday,” said Shoemaker’s mother, Lori Helblig.
Shoemaker was last seen around 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, in Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park, Warsaw. She told a family member she was going for a walk, but she never returned. The young woman left with only the clothes she was wearing and her cell phone, which was either turned off or went dead shortly after her disappearance.
Tips continue to come into the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. Detective Lt. Todd Sautter told StaceyPageOnline.com, “We continue to follow up on any information we get. This is still an open, active case.”
Sautter noted the most recent tip came about two weeks ago and involved a possible sighting in another state. That sighting, however, has not been confirmed.
Helblig said her daughter loved welding in school and enjoys taking walks and listening to her music. “She loves going shopping and trying on clothes even when we had no money to buy them,” Helblig added. “She loves to write and read. [She is] always ready to help a family member or a friend with anything. She’s a very loving and caring person.”
Aurora Shoemaker is approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall, 120 pounds with short blonde hair, green eyes and lower lip piercing’s.
There is currently an active warrant out for Shoemaker, who is wanted in Kosciusko County for a failure to appear charge for misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. The bench warrant, issued in October, carries a $25,000 surety bond. Lt. Sautter explained that, because of the warrant, if or when Shoemaker’s information is entered by any law enforcement official, she will be taken into custody and brought back to Kosciusko County.
