Raiders Edge Tigers 6-5
MIDDLEBURY – The Warsaw baseball team battled until the end Thursday night, but an early hole was just too deep to dig out of versus Northridge.
The host Raiders edged the Tigers 6-5 in a Northern Lakes Conference contest.
Northridge, which improves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the NLC, built a 6-1 lead after three innings en route to the victory.
Warsaw scored two runs in the fourth and a pair in their final at-bat in the seventh inning, but could not pull the contest out.
Shay Hepler and Caleb Moneyheffer each had two hits, including a double, to lead the Warsaw offense. Tyler LaFollette also had two hits for Warsaw.
Starter Forde Ness took the loss for the Tigers, who fall to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action.
Shannon Baker homered and drove in two runs to lead the Raiders. Austin Moniot had two RBI and scored a pair of runs for Northridge.
Blake Fry went the distance on the hill for the Raiders. He allowed seven hits, while striking out seven to run his pitching mark to 4-0.
Northridge won the JV game by a 10-6 final.
Warsaw hosts Concord and Northridge plays at Elkhart Memorial in NLC games Friday.
