James Lester Miner
James Lester Miner, 87, of Etna Green, Ind., passed away at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Ind.
He was born April 29, 1925, to Bram and Ruth Heisler Miner at Etna Green. Jim was the fifth of 10 children. He married Mary Beth Shinn on Sept. 14, 1951, she survives. Jim was a graduate of Etna Green High School class of 1943.
Jim was a member of the armed forces serving in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Tingey from 1943-1946. Retiring from the work force in 1990, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and traveling. He was a member of Etna Green United Methodist Church where he had served many years on the Administrative board.
Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years along with their two daughters: Suzannah Kuhn, Peru, Ind.; Patti Miner, Warsaw, Ind.; and a daughter-in-law: Nancy Miner, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Scott, Tohnya Miner-Moser, Amber Kuhn, Tiffany (Duane) Cleaver, Jana (Rick) Still, Devan (Ryan) Sands and Dustin Kuhn; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters: Mary Hoffer, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Jane (Tom) Ebbing, Albion, Ind.; and his brother: Dean (Jill) Miner, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Randy Miner; and six siblings.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, Ind. A celebration of Jim’s life will follow at 4 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will follow in Etna Green Cemetery at Etna Green, with military graveside services by the Warsaw American Legion, of which he was a member.
