Warsaw Dealership Hosts The Magical Derby
The Magical Derby, a benefit for The Magical Meadows, the local therapeutic horseback riding center for children and adults with special needs, is set to take place Saturday, May 4, at Toyota of Warsaw.
“Last years inaugural event was so well received and so much fun, that we can’t wait for this years event and with our new additions,” explained Tina Rice, derby chair. The biggest addition to the derby is the items donated for use as prizes and auction, incorporating some exciting games throughout the night, and expanding the guest list.
“The generosity of not only our local businesses but online retailers has been unbelievable,” added Rice. “The scope of merchandise donated for this event, especially since we are considered an up and coming event, has left me speechless many times over, along with our loyal corporate sponsors, we expect a great outcome for The Magical Meadows.”
The Magical Derby will feature Star Entertainment of Cleveland, Ohio, with their “night at the races” program complete with mock horse racing and the chance to win donated prizes for race winners and participants.
The Sleepy Owl Supper Club will offer up a Derby inspired buffet dinner and guests will receive a complimentary Mint Julep. A cash bar will be available. Ticket prices are set at $35 each.
In addition to the viewing of the races, the very popular “Derby Hat Contest” will take place as all guests are encouraged to Dress Derby for this event.
Committee members will be searching for three hats to make it into the popular vote contest. There will be trophies, roses and sashes awarded for win, place and show.
Prior to the start of entertainment, guests of the derby will be offered the chance to “become a horse owner” with a $10 donation to The Magical Meadows. Horses will be listed and those who wish to become an “owner” may make that small donation. If that horse wins its scheduled race, then the “owner” receives a Derby Trophy and prize along with a special photo opportunity with our derby ponies.
“There are so many ways to support the Magical Meadows during this event,” concluded Rice. “It will feel more like being at a party than a fundraiser. With that said, we don’t want to lose sight at the real purpose of The Magical Derby, and that is to raise awareness and money for The Magical Meadows so they can continue their mission of providing equine assisted therapy for our special needs community.”
