Winona Lake Hosting Saturday March For Babies
This weekend’s weather forecast may put a damper on many spring activities but one community event proves that every March for Babies day is a sunny day for babies. Thousands of participants will join together Saturday to help give every baby a healthy start at any of the 11 events this weekend.
Locally, the March for Babies is happening this Saturday, April 20, at Winona Lake Park, 1590 Park Ave, Winona Lake.
March for Babies Honorary Chair Stephanie Schmucker, teams from 37 of local businesses and organizations including Zimmer, DePuy, CTB and hundreds of Whitley and Kosciusko county residents.
Thousands of dedicated people will walk this weekend despite the soggy forecast. “We know the weather might prevent some from attending the event,” says Brandi Farber on behalf of the March for Babies. “However, we have a lot of people registered to walk online at marchforbabies.org so we know that we’ll have thousands out to walk and make a difference in the health of babies.”
The March of Dimes is asking people who have donations to turn-in to come to March for Babies. If for some reason they are unable to attend the walk, to drop them by the March of Dimes office nearest to them. “We will have the March for Babies T-shirts and other prizes at the office for those who earned them,” says Melanie Kellogg, community director.
March for Babies is a 40-year American tradition that takes place each spring. March for Babies provides the majority of the critical funds needed to help the March of Dimes to prevent premature birth, birth defects and death before age one.
