Verl I. Miles
Verl I. Miles, 65, of Akron, Ind., passed away at 11:57 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Wabash County Hospital Emergency Room unexpectedly.
Verl was born on Sept. 18, 1947, in Marian, Ind., to Verl and Lela Mae (Henson) Miles. On May 18, 1990, in Akron, Ind., Verl was married to Kathy Klein Spangle. She survives.
He was an Army Ranger for two years. Verl was in the Navy for ten years. He most recently was a maintenance man for Fort Wayne Foundry of Columbia City, Ind. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1965. Verl served his country in Vietnam serving in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, and trail riding. Verl also loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Amy (Bryan) Rice, Silver Lake, Ind.; Leslie Miles, Warsaw, Ind.; step-son: Josh (Sarah) Spangle, Warsaw; stepdaughter: Amy (Brett) Leach, Warsaw; grandchildren: Keagan, Hunter, Gabrien, Josiah Rice, all of Silver Lake; Ema Ousley, Warsaw; Vivienne Spangle, Warsaw; three brothers: Gregg (Dianne) Miles, Illinois; Douglas Miles, South Whitley, Ind.; Shayne (Tirzah) Miles, Warsaw; three sisters: Dawne Miles, Kentucky; Nikki (Lonnie) Henson, Alabama; and Tasha Meyers, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darryl Miles.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Ind. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, April 11, at Akron Church of God, 301 South West Street, Akron, with military rites to follow performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard. Services will be officiated by Reverend Marvin Parrish and Reverend Michael Rohrer. Burial will take place at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
