Darrell Eugene Leap
Darrell Eugene Leap, 92, of Columbia City, Ind., and formerly of North Webster, Ind., passed away March 21, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on Aug. 18, 1920, in Cicero, Ind., he was the son of Lester and Nellie (Newby) Leap. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient.
On Oct. 5, 1939, he married, Geneva Sylvester in Greenfield, Ind. He was the owner of Leap Excavating and lived in North Webster from 1952-1968, Knapp Lake from 1968-2004 and has lived in Columbia City since 2004.
Survivors include his daughter: Carolyn S. (Phillip) Roy, Columbia City; granddaughters: Lisa (Gregg) Robinson and Christine (Steve Sagahan) Opperud, both of Warsaw; and great-grandsons: Darrell Bryant and Jordan Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years; and brother: Robert Leap.
No viewing is planned and private services will be held at a later date at North Webster Cemetery Mock Addition.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Leap to Whitley Parkview Home Health Care and Hospice.
