Torpy Wins Clerk Caucus
Ann Torpy won the Republican caucus this evening held for the purpose of appointing a replacement for the position of Kosciusko County Circuit Court Clerk.
Torpy filed for the position when Jason McSherry announced his resignation late last month. McSherry’s last day with the county was March 8. He has taken a position with Lake City Bank.
Torpy beat out Christopher Sanders for the title. In her short address to the crowd of precinct committee men and women, she said she has been with the clerk’s office since she was 18. “This opportunity came a little earlier than I planned it to. I planned to file for clerk after Jason’s term was over,” she explained. “I truly enjoy being part of the clerk’s office. It’s my home away from home.”
Sanders also addressed the caucus noting that he moved to Kosciusko County 7 years ago and was active in politics with both Mark Sauder’s office and Marlin Stutzman. “I began to see the need for customer service within the government offices. There needs to be and needs to be constant improvement in the area of customer service,” he said.
Sanders also noted, “We need to constantly look to the past to make sure that we are maintaining the focus of what the job is, along with looking to the future and making sure we’re making constant improvements.”
A total of 49 eligible precinct committee men and women – which included three vice precinct committee members – were present for the vote.
Torpy will begin her duties as the clerk immediately.
