FC Indiana To Offer Soccer Instruction
WARSAW – The International Women’s Opportunity Foundation and FC Indiana have partnered to provide free high level soccer coaching and instruction to Warsaw area girls.
The International Women’s Opportunity Foundation is a non-partisan, non-profit, all-volunteer foundation committed to improving humanitarian, social, cultural, educational and sporting opportunities for girls and women.
FC Indiana, based out of South Bend, is a professional soccer club which has won two Women’s Premier Soccer League and two U.S. Open Cup national titles.
Shek Borkowski is FC Indiana and Haiti WNT head coach. He has coached professionally in Russia where he led Zvezda-2005 to the Russian national championship and the UEFA Women’s Champions League Sweet 16. Borkowski has a UEFA A license.
Borkowski’s staff includes his Haiti WNT assistants Michael Voss who also coaches the Grace College women’s team, Christian Castro and Kristin Eggert, who won three national championships at Wheaton College and went on to play professionally in Norway. Eggert has her USSF C license and will instruct goalkeepers.
FC Indiana, in nine years of women’s soccer, has helped develop 56 national team players, 11 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 12 Olympic participants.
FC Indiana competes in the WPSL Elite league and will play their first game against Seattle Reign which features US WNT stars Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe. The game will be played on April 15 at 7p.m. at Mishawaka Marian High School.
According to Borkowski, the FC Indiana staff and pro players will hold free practices on Mondays, beginning April 22, at the Grace College soccer field. The program will run through the end of July and is open to girls ages 10-17.
