R. ‘Doug’ Hollan
R. ‘Doug’ Hollan, 61, of Talma (Rochester), Ind., passed away unexpectedly at 10:51 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
Doug was born the son of Edward Hollan, Jr. and Elvira Large Hollan on May 27, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a resident of Talma since 1978. On Feb. 22, 1969, he married Vergie Howard. She survives.
He was a hard worker and worked at trailer factories and Tippecanoe Foundry. Other interests include his workmanship with old cars and hot rod building. He was a member of the Rebel Rouser’s Car Club and was a people person who never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: Douglas Edward (Vanessa) Hollan, Rochester; and Allen Wade Hollan, Rochester; two grandsons: Shelby Douglas Dean Hollan, and Justin Mullins; sisters: Bonnie (Paul) Combs, Jackson, Ky.; Barbara Fugate, Bremen, Ind.; Christine (Al) Turner, Wattsburg, Pa.; Dolly Hollan, Winchester, Ky.; brothers: Charles (Connie) Hollan, Jackson, Ky.; Edward Hollan, Bremen; John (Vickie) Hollan, Jackson; Bryce Hollan, Winchester; Ernest Paul (Jackie) Hollan, Leslie, Ky.; and Scott (Amy) Hollan, Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Robert Lee Hollan.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. Funeral services immediately will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Bourbon.
