Inez M. Witmer
Inez M. Witmer, 97, of Plymouth, Ind., and formerly of Nappanee, Ind., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Elkhart County, Ind., near Nappanee to Mervin G. and Elmeda (Wagner) Michael. She graduated from the Nappanee High School and had lived in Osceola before moving to Plymouth in 1996. She attended the First Brethren Church in Osceola.
Inez was a former 4-H Junior and Senior Leader, and was the first 4-H Fair Queen for Elkhart County. She married Mervin H. Witmer on Nov. 6, 1949, in Wyatt, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1996.
She is survived by a son: Timothy Witmer, Plymouth; two granddaughters: Brandi and Brittany Witmer, both of Lafayette, Ind.; and brother: Earl (Mary) Michael, Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Patricia Ann Venckus; and brothers: Glenn “Mike” Harold and Paul Michael.
Friends and family may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, also at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Tyler of Grace Point Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Center Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
