Evelyn M. Flickinger
Evelyn M. (Burkholder) Flickinger, 86, of Wakarusa, Ind., died at 6:30 p.m. at Friday, Feb. 8, at The Cedars Nursing Home in Leo, Ind., where she had been for the past two years.
She was born July 2, 1926, in Nappanee, Ind., to Roy and Uretha (Frederick) Burkholder. She graduated from Nappanee High School, and the House of James Cosmetology School in South Bend, Ind., and was a beautician for 40 years, and also a housewife.
Evelyn was a lifetime area resident and a member of Union Center Church of the Brethren in Nappanee. She married Glenn Flickinger on Aug. 25, 1945, at the Union Center Church of the Brethren in Nappanee. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2010.
Surviving are sons: Richard (Rebecca) Flickinger, Leo, Ind.; Terry (Debbie) Flickinger and Jon (Julie) Flickinger, both of Wakarusa, Ind.; a daughter: Anna (Randy) Griffin, Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren: Martha (Brian) McCombs, Leo, Ind.; Nikolaus Flickinger, Phoenix, Ariz.; Ryan Griffin and Juliana Griffin, both of Vancouver; Eric (Kortney) Flickinger, Cutler, Ind.; Andy (Amanda) Flickinger, Cave Springs, Ga.; and Jacob, Brynne, and Arika Flickinger, Wakarusa, Ind.; six great-grandchildren; and sister Marilyn Davis, Elkhart, Ind.
She was preceded in death by brothers: Howard, Dallas and Loyal Burkholder.
Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Union Center Church of the Brethren in Nappanee. Pastor Herman Kaufman, assisted by Pastor Ann Fourman will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Center Cemetery.
