She was born on Aug. 9, 1928, the daughter of Bleve and Cathrine (Seals) Gumm in Salem, Ind. On Sept. 25, 1947, she married Howard Weade, he preceded her in death in October of 2005.
Christine retired from Lyle in Ligonier and also worked at Essex for many years. She enjoyed playing euchre, sewing, line dancing, walking daily and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two children: Ron (Dianne) Weade, Ashville, N.C.; Deb (Kenny) Miller, Ligonier; three grandchildren: Tanner (Catrina) Miller, Ligonier; Casey (Chelsey) Weade, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Brittney Miller, Ligonier; two great-grandchildren: Macie and Spencer; six sibling: Delia Nix, James Gumm, Cathrine Schlabach, Geraldine Halsey, Virginia Baker, Johnny Gumm; and her companion: Richard Swank.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three brothers, Therman, Harrsion and Donald Gumm.
Visitation will be held at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, and at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb 4. A funeral service will be held in Christine’s honor at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Yeager Funeral Home. Reverend Paul Hoffmaster will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, Ind.
