Third Armed Robbery Reported In Elkhart
At approximately 8:30 p.m. this evening, Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies were once again called to an armed robbery on Elkhart’s northwest side.
According to a press release, the Marathon gas station at 51451 SR 19 was robbed by two male suspects wearing black masks and gloves. The suspects entered into the store while armed with handguns and demanded money from the store clerk. They got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register as well as cigarettes.
The suspects reportedly left the store and got into a gold colored sport utility vehicle and left westbound on Roseland Road.
On Friday, Elkhart County deputies were also working to solve two other robberies in the same area. The first was reported at 2:15 p.m. at Elkhart Cigarette Outlet, 51505 SR 19. In that incident, two white males entered into the store and demanded money from the cashier. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, several cartons of cigarettes and other items from the store, the suspects placed the items into a black trash bag and ordered the cashier to the floor.
Though no weapon was displayed, the suspects may have been armed with a taser.
In the second robbery on Friday, two white males entered Low Bob’s Discount Tobacco, 51523 SR 19, at approximately 6:50 p.m. In that incident, the men brandished a hatchet type of a weapon.
Once again, the suspects ordered employees to the ground and obtained an unknown amount of cash, several cartons of cigarettes, and other items before leaving the store in an unknown vehicle. A third suspect, who was a female, was standing at the door during the robbery.
Suspects in both Friday robberies are described as being white males in their 20′s. Both are said to be approximately 5’10″ and weigh between 160 and 170 pounds.
No physical description of the suspects in tonight’s robbery was provided.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects involved in all of the robberies, as well as the vehicle they were driving. Anyone with information should contact their local police department or the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 574-533-4151.
