Sally A. Cotton-Kane
Sally A. Cotton-Kane, 64, of Elwood, Ind., passed away on Thursday evening, Jan. 24, 2013, surrounded by her family at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Ind., following an extensive battle with cancer.
She was born June 10, 1948, in Elwood to Wayne O. and Lorene L. (Dobson) Wimmer. Sally was the owner and operator of both the Charley & Barney’s Restaurant in Elwood and the former Beyond the Greens Restaurant at the Elwood golf course. She had also previously been the co-owner of Cotton & Cotton Insurance Agency in Syracuse, Ind., for many years.
Sally was a 1966 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School, and later attended Butler University where she majored in music and dance. While at Butler, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and later she became a member of the Psi Iota Xi Service Sorority in North Webster, Ind.
Sally loved spending time at her lake home on Lake Tippecanoe, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed music, crossword puzzles, cross-stitching and cooking. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband whom she married on July 8, 2004: Charles R. “Chuck” Kane, Elwood; two sons: Chris (Tammy) Cotton, North Webster; and Chad (Veronica) Cotton, Austin, Texas; two step-sons: Brent (Melinda) Kane, Elwood; and Kandon Kane (companion Shanna Croy), both of Elwood; eight grandchildren: Candice Brown, Trevor Brown, Trent Brown, Kayla Brown, Jacob Cotton, Matthew Cotton, Paige Cotton and Alex Kane; two great-grandchildren: Jaxon Brown and Cash Brown; a sister-in-law: Susy (Keal) Wimmer, Augusta, Ga.; a niece: Katie (Barry) Blackson; and a nephew: Buddy (Nicole) Wimmer.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Richard Wimmer.
Visitation will also be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home. A reception and celebration of Sally’s Life will follow the funeral from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at their family business, Lucky Strike Lanes in Elwood. Burial will take place at a later date at the Elwood City Cemetery.
