Kindig Hits Milestone In Valley Win
ROCHESTER – Nick Kindig joined a pretty exclusive fraternity among Tippecanoe Valley basketball players Friday night.
The valley senior notched his 1,000th career point during a dominating 62-28 win over host Rochester in Three Rivers Conference action.
Kindig, a sharpshooting guard, tallied eight points in the rout to give him 1,004 for his career. He becomes just the 10th player overall from Valley to hit the 1,000-point mark and the fifth boys player to accomplish the feat.
Kindig joins former Valley players Trey Eaton, Ron Dittman, Scott Johnson and Brandon Eaton in the boys 1,000 club at TVHS. The five girls from Valley to reach 1,000 points are Rebekah Parker, Staci Groom, Hannah Krueger, Kara Kramer and Cathy Welch.
The Vikings bounced back Friday night in a big way after a 63-46 loss at Plymouth last Saturday. That setback snapped Valley’s nine-game winning streak.
Valley led 22-10 after the opening period versus the Zebras and 43-18 at halftime in improving to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in TRC play.
Tanner Andrews led the way for coach Bill Patrick’s Valley squad with a game-high 18 points in the blowout win. Logan Britton scored 15 points and Alex Thacker 10 for the Vikings. Kindig finished with eight and Robby Groom had six.
Jonathan O’Dell led Rochester, which drops to 2-8 overall and 2-1 in league play, with 10 points.
Valley hosts TRC foe Southwood Friday. Rochester plays at Caston Tuesday night.
