Ruby Marie Muir
Ruby Marie Muir, 94, of North Manchester, Ind., formerly of Bippus, Ind., died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Pleasant Township, Wabash County, Ind., to Lawrence and Mary (Frantz) Hoover. She graduated from Laketon High School in 1936. On April 29, 1955, she married Robert H. Muir, who passed away Dec. 10, 1978.
She retired from Heckman Bindery in North Manchester, after 41 years of service. She was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, Ind., and was a longtime member of the former West Manchester Church of the Brethren, where she taught children’s Sunday School for many years. Ruby was a 50 year member of Epsilon Sigma # 1609 and was named Woman of the Year for Indiana of the sorority in 2001.
She is survived by one step-daughter: Mrs. Al (Alice) Pillsbury, Huntington, Ind.; two brothers: Russell (Joann) Hoover, North Manchester; Homer (Julia) Hoover, North Manchester; two sisters: Grace Metzger, North Manchester; Verna (Roger) Shively, North Manchester; one sister-in-law: LeeAnna Hoover, North Manchester; three step-grandchildren: two step-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one step son: Homer Muir; and two brothers: Ray Hoover and Ernest Hoover
Visitation will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester. Pastor Andrew Sampson and Reverend Joan Deeter will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester. Arrangements entrusted to McKee Mortuary.
