Marilyn Nye Brandt
Marilyn Nye Brandt, 87, of Palm Harbor, Fla., passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Brookside Hospice in Palm Harbor.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wis., the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Milo A. Nye of Albion, Ind.
Marilyn was a 1942 graduate of Albion High School. She attended Purdue University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science in 1947. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Marilyn worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago as a Dietician before she met her husband, Alfred W. Brandt Jr. on a blind date. They were engaged in July 1949 and were wed on Oct. 15 of that same year in Valparaiso, Ind.
Mrs. A.W. Brandt soon became a homemaker and loving mother of four children. Her three sons enjoyed Scouting and all obtained their Eagle Scout. Her proudest accomplishment was her children. She enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends.
She moved to Palm Harbor with her husband in 1976 where they owned and operated Florida Maids on Call.
She is survived by her two sons: Alfred W. (Sandy) Brandt III., Forest, Va.; Garry N. (Debbie) Brandt Sr., Palm Harbor. Fla.; and one daughter: Barbara A. (Jim) Findlay, Harrison Township, Mich.; a brother: John (Donna) Nye and their two sons: George and Jacob, of Wilmette, Ill.; 11 grandchildren: Shelley Brandt, Kristin Brandt, Will (Whitney) Brandt, Ryan Brandt, Benjamin Brandt, Jim Findlay Jr., Philip Findlay, Ian Findlay, Siobhan Findlay, Christin (Joel) Harris and Garry Brandt Jr., and two great-grandchildren: Austen Grecko and McKenna Brandt.
Mrs. A.W. Brandt was preceded in death by her husband: Alfred W. Brandt Jr.; and her son: David J. Brandt.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church in Warsaw, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Arrangements were entrusted with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw.
